Controversy on the set: Why was Tom Hardy fired from the MobLand series?
The British actor will not return for the third season of the Paramount hit due to his constant delays and creative clashes with the production
In an unexpected twist that has shaken the television industry, acclaimed actor Tom Hardy has been fired from “MobLand,” the hit Paramount crime drama series.
According to reports from media outlets such as Page Six, the network's drastic decision was made after multiple incidents of unprofessional behavior and creative clashes during the filming of the second season.
Sources close to the production revealed that Hardy, who played the main character Harry Da Souza, created a tense atmosphere on the filming set.
Among the main reasons for his departure are his recurring delays in filming days and his constant insistence on altering the scripts, demanding changes in the dialogues and giving guidelines without authorization.
Added to these attitudes was the British's explicit discontent regarding the direction of the series. It turned out that the actor was irritated by the ensemble approach that the narrative adopted in the second installment, as he preferred that the plot focus mainly on his character instead of sharing the spotlight with the rest of the technical and artistic cast.
The situation reached its breaking point when producer Jez Butterworth threatened to abandon the project due to friction with the "Venom" star. Faced with the ultimatum, Paramount chose to terminate Hardy's contract for the third season.
So far, neither the actor's representatives nor the streaming platform have issued official statements. However, the firing leaves a big puzzle over how the writers will resolve the abrupt departure of key character from the criminal organization Harrigan in the coming episodes.
