Voto Latino asks House Republicans to do their job and hold Kristi Noem accountable

Voto Latino, in coalition with 75 civil society organizations, sent a letter to the United States Congress to request that an investigation be carried out into the actions being taken by the Secretary of Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, on immigration policy.
According to the organization, Kristi Noem is increasingly violating civil liberties and aggressively enforcing immigration laws that are generating “chaos in the immigration system.”
“Kristi Noem is using the Department of Homeland Security as a weapon to instill fear in immigrant communities across the country. Her policies are cruel, calculated, and blatantly un-American. Under her failed leadership, DHS has become a corrupt agency, prioritizing political theater over public safety and systematically violating the rights of immigrants, legal residents, and even American citizens,” said Maria Teresa Kumar, president and co-founder of Voto Latino.
Through an announcement, Voto Latino specifies that the actions carried out by the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security are contrary to what the American people voted for and are aimed at a devastating human cost of mass deportations, raids ICE and the government’s rampant overreach against immigrant families across the country.
“Their reckless mismanagement endangers our communities and betrays this nation’s founding values. Voters wanted a secure border and safe communities, but the Trump administration’s failed immigration policy is far from that. People are paying attention—whether on social media, local news, or through personal experience—and are rejecting this approach,” said Maria Teresa Kumar.
“It’s time for Congress, especially the Republicans who control both chambers, to step up and do their job.”"This madness is dangerous for our democracy and the future of our country," said the co-founder of Voto Latino.
