Alarm in Los Angeles: Police Shootings Increase by 50%

Officer-involved shootings in the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) have increased by 50%.
According to LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell, the department has recorded 31 shootings so far this year officer-involved shootings, compared to 21 during the same period last year, a 47.6% increase.
“The five-year average is 32 incidents annually. With 31 already in the first nine months, year-end totals are on pace to meet, or possibly exceed, the historical average given there are four months left in 2025,” he said.
