Governor Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday that he will deploy the California National Guard to support food banks throughout the Golden State.
This is a support measure in the wake of the federal government shutdown, which has delayed the delivery of food subsidies to millions of California families, according to with the governor's office.
Newsom also directed more than $80 million in state aid to address funding delays caused by the government shutdown, according to a press release.
