A Hispanic man from Los Angeles did not contest second-degree murder charges in the death of his 15-month-old son, which occurred on May 12. 2021.
Jose Juan Herrera, 38, of El Sereno, was immediately sentenced to 15 years to life in state prison, Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Hatami said.
The guilty plea was entered Thursday in a downtown Los Angeles court after Herrera's trial date was set for January 29, 2026.
