Ted Cruz, senator from Texas, put on the table the proposal to arm the opponents of the Iranian regime so that they can be the ones in charge of overthrowing it, something that US bombings have not achieved.
Given this situation, during his participation in the “School of War” podcast, legislator Cruz raised a proposal that has already worked for the United States in other war conflicts, providing weapons and ammunition to the opponents of the government that they wish to defeat.
"I think our goal should be the collapse of the regime. What I think we should do, what I have repeatedly asked President Trump, what I have repeatedly asked Israel to do, is arm the protesters, give them weapons, so that they overthrow their own government, so that it is not American troops that are on the ground, but Iranians fighting for their own country," he said.
Contrary to a proposal made by Trump to allocate a million-dollar fund to the reconstruction of Iran, this in exchange for committing his government in writing to generate the ideal conditions for the restoration of peace, Ted Cruz defines such an option as a serious error.
"Giving them $300 billion is a terrible idea. It was a bad idea two months ago, it is today and it will still be two months from now. So I hope we don't go down that path," he said.
Likewise, the Calgary-born conservative clarified that after defeating Iran, he does not care who is appointed to form a new government as long as he is alien to the ideas of the current one.
“I don't have any dog, whether it's the Shah's son, whether it's from the opposition group [Mujahedin-e-Khalq], whether it's someone from the area, as long as it's not an Islamist who hates the United States and is actively trying to kill Americans,” he emphasized.
