Michoacan is experiencing a day of demonstrations in its main cities, where residents are demanding justice for the murder of the Mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, and to stop the violence caused by criminal groups fighting for control of the state.

Protests are taking place in Uruapan and Zamora Marches with members of the so-called Hat Movement, accompanied by Generation Z youth who also called for the mobilizations.

However, the marches include people of all generations, entire families, and young people chanting slogans for Manzo.

The demonstrators wear hats like the one the Mayor used to wear and dress in white, in response to the call for a day of pacification in the state.

Called for early morning, in Zamora, people marched along the main avenue. The mobilization had a festive touch when the song "Ilusion 98" played, a song the Mayor, assassinated on November 1st, used to dance to at public events.

“Zamorano, listen, this is your fight” and “Carlos didn't die, the State killed him,” were among the slogans heard at the march.

In Uruapan, a march also began toward the main square, where the Mayor was shot when He was leading the Day of the Dead celebration.

Meanwhile, downtown Morelia is protected by hundreds of barricades placed in front of and behind the Government Palace, in order to hinder access for protesters and prevent them from storming the building again, as they did two weeks ago when the capital's citizens protested the assassination.

Called for 11:00 a.m., the march in Morelia will be the largest in the state.

The day of protest extends to various parts of the state, such as Coahuayana, where residents are intermittently blocking the bridge leading into the municipality to demand justice for Manzo's murder and security for the region plagued by clashes between criminal groups and extortion of farmers and merchants.
