The stir has intensified regarding a statement given by Karnataka Home Minister and prominent Dalit leader Dr. G. Parameshwara regarding 'Dalit CM'. Parameshwara has increased the political fervor by saying that 'Dalit CM' will not be made in the state. Parameshwara has also claimed that everything is not well in the Karnataka Congress government.
Speaking at a scheduled caste meeting organized by various Dalit communities at Ambedkar Bhawan, G Parameshwara said that despite bringing the party to power in 2013, when I was the state president of the Karnataka Congress, I could not become the chief minister. However, the party was successful under my leadership. Despite this, no one gave me credit. I didn't even try to take credit. In 2018, the party had to face defeat due to neglect of Dalits. The so-called big leaders who neglected Dalits had to be taught a lesson in the elections.
Parameshwara, a minister in the Siddaramaiah government, also claimed that Dalit leaders were not being made CMs intentionally. Why can't I or Social Welfare Minister Dr. HC Mahadevappa, and Food Supplies Minister KH Muniyappa be made CM? He also appealed to the Dalit leaders to leave their inferiority complex and unite.
G Parameshwara is a big Dalit leader of Karnataka and he has never given up his loyalty to Congress. Therefore, his statement is considered very special in many ways. If sources are to be believed, the high command is keeping an eye on the political rhetoric going on in the Karnataka Congress. The Congress does not want to run the risk of losing the vote bank of Dalits and OBCs ahead of the Lok Sabha and Bengaluru civic elections.
