Nikki Glaser humorously criticizes Victoria Beckham: 'What does it take to make you smile?'
Glaser hosted the Time 100 gala, a ceremony that honors the world's most influential people and is held in New York
During the 20th annual Time 100 gala, held on Thursday night, comedian Nikki Glaser dedicated a moment of her monologue to humorously criticize Victoria Beckham, famous for her characteristic serious expression in front of the cameras.
“One of the most impressive people on the list is Victoria Beckham, of course,” Glaser began, as seen in a video published by The Hollywood Reporter.
The comedian continued: “Oh my God! She was a global pop star, now she's a renowned fashion designer. She's married to David Beckham. She's rich, successful, dazzling. What does it take to make you smile? Seriously, please smile. You're one of the few Brits who should.”
The cameras then caught the designer, who forced a smile, rested her elbow on the table, and tried to stifle a laugh. Beside her, her husband David Beckham laughed openly, enjoying the moment.
Glaser's joke came at a particular time for Victoria Beckham's career, who has multiple reasons to celebrate, including the launch of her collection with Gap and the presence of her brands at the Time 100 Summit.
The Time 100 gala honors the 100 most influential people in the world and takes place in New York. In addition to Victoria Beckham, this year other personalities were recognized, such as Claudia Sheinbaum, Pope Leo XIV, and celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Ethan Hawke, and Hilary Duff.
Family Tensions
In recent days, the former Spice Girl has been going through a difficult time. Sources close to the couple confirmed that Victoria and David Beckham are estranged from their eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, 27, and his wife, Nicola Peltz. Various sources claim that earlier this month, family insiders indicated that Victoria and David had offered to meet with Brooklyn and Nicola "in whatever state they are in," even through therapists or mediators, with the aim of repairing the relationship. In January, Brooklyn Beckham posted a strong statement on Instagram: “I do not want to reconcile with my family.” In that message,He accused his parents of controlling the family narrative in the press “his entire life” through “theatrical” social media posts. He also claimed that the bad blood predates his 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz, due to his parents' alleged dislike of the actress. Despite these accusations, Victoria Beckham addressed her children during a recent interview on the “Today” show. “We always put our children first,” she insisted. “We love our children very much and have always focused on protecting them.”
