This week, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced to American consumers a voluntary recall of at least 5,900 women's sweaters sold at retail chains Madewell and TJ Maxx because they pose a risk of burns and serious injuries.

According to the regulatory entity's report, safety officials determined after investigating that the garment does not meet the flammability standards, which are mandatory for this type of textiles.

The recall was announced last Thursday, July 16, affecting Madewell double V-neck sweaters, model #NT611, and V-neck cardigans, model #NT612 sold in sizes XS through L in light blue and cream for prices up to $148.

Although no problems have been reported with the garments so far, the CPSC advised consumers to stop using the product and contact the store where they purchased it for a refund.
