This Tuesday, through a statement on its official website, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the voluntary withdrawal from the market of Lidl's famous butter cookies due to the presence of possible allergens that may be harmful to the health of some consumers.
According to the health entity, Eridanous brand cookies contain wheat, soy, milk and egg among their ingredients, which were not declared on the packaging, nor did the packaging in which they were distributed provide nutritional information or the other ingredients.
According to details of the report, this food was distributed between July 15 and 22 in at least 10 states in the country: Delaware, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia in the Lidl retail chain under the name "Eridanous butter cookies with chocolate truffle coverage and apricot filling" of 11.6 ounces or 330 grams and UPC code #4056489125839.
The supermarket chain spoke out in a statement indicating that “people who have an allergy or sensitivity to wheat, soy, milk or eggs are at risk of suffering serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products,” it said.
Although no cases of poisoning related to the consumption of this product have been reported so far, the retailer expressed: “Lidl USA regrets any inconvenience related to this voluntary recall.”
