A Hispanic man from the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles was sentenced to just over three years in prison for attacking a California Highway Patrol (CHP) vehicle during a demonstration against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in June 2025.
Yachua Mauricio Flores, 23, was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison by District Judge John F. Walter, in addition to paying $253,415 in restitution, according to a statement released by First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli.
Flores was accused of spraying flammable liquid on a CHP patrol car that was on fire, as well as throwing an electric scooter at officers from an overpass on June 8, 2025, amid protests over the ICE raids in Los Angeles.
