Mother of four was murdered with bricks during a violent robbery in Philadelphia
Police are looking for two suspects accused of committing the attack and subsequently fleeing with the victim's purse.
Philadelphia authorities are searching for two suspects in the murder of a 45-year-old woman who was beaten with bricks and kicked to death during an alleged robbery in the city's north side.
The victim was identified as Keisha Furlow, a mother of four children and a resident of the area where the crime occurred, the Philadelphia Police Department reported in a statement to ABC News.
According to preliminary investigations, officers responded to an alley located behind North Opal Street around 6:15 a.m. Sunday after receiving reports of an altercation.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found Furlow lying on the ground with serious injuries to her face. The paramedics who were already on the scene certified his death.
Police said investigators recovered two bloody bricks near the victim's body, which were believed to have been used during the attack.
Surveillance video captured the attack
Security camera images obtained by local media show part of the attack. In the recording, a person is seen apparently knocking down a woman in the alley and then repeatedly hitting her in the head with a brick, in addition to kicking and stomping on her face.
According to authorities, after the attack the attacker and an accomplice fled with Furlow's purse. Later, the bag was found several blocks from the crime scene, empty and without its belongings.
Police continue to analyze the recordings and collect evidence to identify and locate those responsible.
Neighbors of the victim expressed outrage at the violence of the attack and remembered Furlow as a well-known person in the community.
Alexia Zia, a resident of the sector, expressed her desire that those responsible be brought to justice.
"I hope whoever did this is held accountable. She didn't seem to bother anyone in this community and I don't understand why something like this happened," he declared.
Another neighbor, Darnel Henry, mourned Furlow's death and assured that the woman did not cause conflict in the neighborhood.
"No one should end up like this. She lived her life and was at peace with it," he said.
Authorities have asked anyone with information about the case to contact the Philadelphia Homicide Division.
To date, no arrests have been made and the investigation continues to clarify the facts and determine the exact circumstances of the crime.
