Like a bucket of cold water, the news fell on actress Jennifer Aniston's departure from the production “I'm Glad My Mom Died,” based on the memoir by former Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy.

According to the TMZ portal, the Golden Globe winner would have ended her participation in front of and behind the cameras because it was impossible for her to combine her work schedule with the filming of the story.

And according to international media, the production had already suffered a major blow with the departure of director Jason Reitman due to alleged creative differences with Jennette McCurdy, who serves as showrunner of the project along with producer Ari Katcher.

Despite these reports, in 2025, Jennifer Aniston told People that her decision to be part of “I'm Glad My Mom Died” had been easy, as she found the proposal “very exciting.”

The “Friends” star even claimed to feel a connection due to the similarities between McCurdy's story and her own life experience.

Before “jumping ship,” Jennifer Aniston was slated to play Debra McCurdy, the domineering mother of the former “iCarly” star, as well as executive produce the project.

“I’m Glad My Mom Died” reached first place on The New York Times list in 2022, the year of its publication. In this memoir, actress Jennette McCurdy recounts the details of her childhood and complicated relationship she had with her mother, Debra, until her death in 2013.
