The Duffer brothers will leave Netflix after the end of Stranger Things
After almost a decade of collaboration with the streaming platform, Matt and Ross Duffer signed an exclusive four-year contract with Paramount

Brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of the successful series Stranger Things, announced that they will leave Netflix after the end of the fifth season of the series, whose premiere is scheduled for November and December.
After almost a decade of collaboration with the streaming platform that launched them to fame in 2016, the Duffer brothers signed a contract exclusive for four years with Paramount, marking the beginning of a new phase in their careers in which they will focus on writing, producing, and directing large-scale films and original series for this company.
Despite their departure from Netflix, the Duffer brothers will maintain some connection with the platform, as they will continue to serve as executive producers on several projects, including two new series: The Boroughs and Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen.
They will also continue to expand the Stranger Things universe with possible future productions, including an animated series titled Stranger Things: Tales from '85, which will arrive on Netflix in 2026.
The creators of Stranger Things expressed their gratitude towards Netflix, highlighting the creative freedom and support they have received over the years. At the same time, they expressed enthusiasm for joining Paramount.
“Our time at Netflix was incredible (…) they have given us the kind of creative freedom and support that an artist always dreams of and rarely receives. After a decade, we are family,” the Duffer brothers said in a statement.
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will be divided into three parts, which will premiere on Netflix in November and December.
Volume 1 of the series will arrive on Netflix on November 26, the second on December 25, and the season finale will premiere on December 31.
Filming on the final season of Stranger Things began the first week of January 2024. Filming for the new episodes was delayed due to the Screen Actors Guild strike in the United States in 2023.
