After singer and actress Belinda surprised her fans by announcing that she would be leaving Mexico for a while, the first images of the project she will be working on in Spain have been released.

The star will bring to life Carlota of Habsburg, the first and last Empress of Mexico, in the new historical series produced by Sony Pictures, titled 'Carlota'.

The first official cast photo was revealed by the program 'De Primera Mano', showing Belinda alongside producer Carlos Quintanilla and the creative team. The image generated great excitement among the star's fans.

For Belinda, this role represents the realization of a dream she's had for over two years. "Today it's a reality," she enthusiastically wrote on social media when her participation was confirmed in May 2025, highlighting the profound significance that portraying this historical figure has for her.

About the series 'Carlota'

According to Variety, the series will consist of 10 episodes that will explore the challenges the Empress faced during her time in Mexico and her complex love story with Maximilian of Habsburg.

It is reported that filming will not be limited to Spain, but will also extend to locations in Colombia.

This project marks a new and ambitious step in Belinda's acting career, who recently concluded her successful run on the series “Mentiras,” where she shared the screen with a distinguished cast. “Carlota” presents itself as a significant challenge that positions her in high-profile historical and dramatic productions.

While immersing herself in this role, Belinda also remains active in music, currently nominated for a Premio Lo Nuestro award for her collaboration with Natanael Cano on the song “300 Noches.”
