Jennifer Lopez confesses to being a fan of Madonna: “As a child I wanted to be like her”
The singer revealed that in her childhood she cut out her clothes to imitate the style of the Queen of Pop, an influence that marked her desire to evolve.
Jennifer Lopez made it clear that her path to global stardom was strongly influenced by another great music legend: Madonna.
In a recent statement collected by People magazine, the “Jenny from the block” singer opened up about the deep admiration and obsession she felt for the Queen of Pop during her childhood and youth.
With a big smile, Lopez recalled how the iconic singer's impact even transformed her way of dressing from a very early age. “When I was little, I wanted to be like her,” the artist confessed.
"That's why I started going to the Village (in New York). I wanted to dress like her," JLo added.
JLo's devotion reached such a point that she adopted the “Like a Virgin” singer's rebellious and avant-garde fashion literally: “I cut out my clothes to look like her,” she admitted.
However, Madonna's influence on Jennifer Lopez's life went far beyond visual aesthetics or fashion trends. The actress and singer explained that the Queen of Pop's chameleonic mentality directly shaped her own professional ambitions and work ethic over the decades.
"I always told myself: I never want to stay stagnant. I always wanted to keep evolving and doing new things," said the star, who is currently promoting her new film for Netflix, "Office Romance."
With these statements, JLo reaffirms that the secret of her artistic validity and versatility was born from the reflection of her great childhood idol.
