Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday blamed faulty project reports for some road accidents and stressed that companies need to have the right training to prepare detailed project reports for construction of highways and other roads.
The Minister of Road Transport and Highways said that the government is promoting the use of new technology.
"Some of the DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) prepared by companies are extremely bad and are responsible for road accidents," Gadkari, who is known for his outspoken views, said at an event in New Delhi.
In a light-hearted manner, the minister said that even a new Mercedes car can cause problems in the hands of an unskilled driver.
Gadkari stressed on identifying the reasons for delay in road projects as rising cost of construction due to delay is also a significant concern.
