Gold worth Rs 21.22 crore has been recovered on the Indo-Bangladesh border. On the basis of prior information, Border Security Force personnel were already stationed there. When the smugglers faced the BSF in North 24 Parganas of West Bengal, they first made up their mind to fight with the soldiers, but when the soldiers moved forward, they ran away. According to BSF, 7-8 smugglers jumped into the river dodging the jawans.

The Border Security Force (BSF) said that they had received information that some activity was going on along the border. There was information about the presence of smugglers in the border outpost Gunarmath area of ​​North 24 Parganas district. 158 Battalion of BSF activated the troupe. Troops recovered 5 bags, which contained 321 gold biscuits. Four gold bars, 1 gold coin, a country boat, 4 mobile phones, packing items and Bangladeshi newspapers were also recovered.

BSF has said that the recovered gold is of 24 carat. Their total weight is 41.49 kg, whose market value is around Rs 21.22 crore. It has been told by BSF that combing operation is being conducted in search of smugglers. BSF has said that this is the largest consignment of gold recovered by any agency on the Indo-Bangladesh border.

It has been told by the Border Security Force that the patrol team saw 7-8 suspected smugglers crossing the international border. All the smugglers had entered the Indian border on a country boat through the Ichhamati river. The smugglers tried to fight and confront the BSF jawans, but when the soldiers moved forward, the smugglers withdrew. All the smugglers jumped into the river and returned to Bangladesh.
