Due to the ongoing ruckus in the state against the Agneepath scheme for recruitment in the army, the ban imposed on the internet and social networking sites in 20 districts can be lifted from Tuesday. Due to not getting a proposal to increase the ban from any district till late Monday evening, this step is likely to be taken. Along with this, the administration has also been instructed to be alert.

ADG (headquarters) JS Gangwar said that internet service is banned in 20 districts till midnight of Monday. Information will be given when any decision is taken. It is to be known that the state government had first banned the operation of social networking sites in 15 districts on June 17 and then in five other districts on June 19 to check rumours.

According to the police headquarters, the Bharat Bandh called by various organizations on Monday remained peaceful in Bihar. No untoward incident was reported from anywhere regarding law and order. The headquarters said that in the last five days, a total of 161 FIRs have been registered in the case of destruction of government property and arson-sabotage. In these, 922 chaotic elements were arrested.

In addition to Bihar Police, paramilitary forces have been deputed in the districts regarding law and order. The Police Headquarters has appealed to the common people to cooperate with the administration in maintaining peace.

The districts of Bihar where internet has been stopped include Kaimur, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Buxar, West Champaran, East Champaran, Nawada, Samastipur, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Vaishali, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Madhubani, Jehanabad, Sheikhpura and Khagaria are included. Internet service is expected to be restored in all these districts from tomorrow.
