The price of the dollar in Mexico began the day this Wednesday, July 22, with few changes compared to the previous day's close. The volatility of the foreign exchange market was 6.18%, below the reference volatility of 7.53%, an indicator that is usually associated with moderate behavior of currencies and lower fluctuations in the short term.

The Bank of Mexico (Banxico) reported that the official closing of the dollar corresponding to Tuesday, July 21, was $17.3970 pesos per unit. This figure is obtained from the average of the banking operations carried out during the day. However, because the exchange market continues to operate during the day, the price of the dollar against the peso ended the session around $17.41 pesos per US currency.

Banxico also announced that the FIX exchange rate, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), was established at $17.3975 pesos per dollar for this Wednesday, July 22. This value works as an official reference for various contracts, financial operations and procedures in Mexico. The FIX is calculated based on the average of the quotes observed in the wholesale exchange market during banking business days and is published at noon of the previous business day.

For its part, the exchange rate applicable for the payment of obligations denominated in US dollars was set at $17.4315 pesos per currency. This value is used when people or companies must settle debts agreed in foreign currency within Mexican territory.

In the banks of Mexico and the northern border, the dollar registers an average price of $17.68 pesos for sale and $16.55 pesos for purchase. On the other hand, in exchange houses located in border cities, such as those in Tamaulipas, the dollar maintains an average of close to $17.50 pesos for sale and $16.50 pesos for purchase.

These quotes may vary slightly depending on the financial institution, the region and the time in which the operation is carried out. The price of the dollar can change several times before the close of the day due to exchange activity during the day.
