The Karnataka government is looking to withdraw cases against youths involved in protests and riots at DJ Halli and KJ Halli, Shivamogga, Hubli, among other places, at the behest of some state legislators. In August 2020, there were riots in East Bengaluru, in which SDPI members were allegedly involved and were the main accused. The role of SDPI was also pointed out in its magisterial inquiry.
