Fighting between the army and paramilitaries continues in Sudan. The Government of India has launched 'Operation Kaveri' to bring back the stranded Indians. On Wednesday, a special aircraft carrying 360 Indian nationals reached the national capital Delhi from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

Slogans of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai', 'Bharatiya Sena Zindabad', 'PM Narendra Modi Zindabad' were raised by them as soon as Indian citizens reached Delhi from Sudan. A flight to New Delhi carrying 360 Indians left from Jeddah airport today. Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan saw him off at Jeddah airport.

Speaking to ANI, Surendra Singh Yadav, an Indian national who returned from Sudan said that I had gone there for an IT project and got stuck there. The embassy and the government also helped a lot. About 1000 people are present in Jeddah. The government is doing the work of evacuation fast. Indians expressed immense happiness as the special flight carrying 360 Indians evacuated from Sudan landed in Delhi from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Another Indian national who returned from Sudan told ANI that the Indian government extended a lot of support to us. It is a great thing that we got here safely because it was very dangerous. I thank PM Modi and the Government of India. Earlier, INS Sumedha had evacuated 278 Indians from there to Jeddah.

India has evacuated a total of 670 Indian nationals from Sudan and is looking to evacuate more of its nationals from the strife-torn African country before the ceasefire between the regular army and a paramilitary force expires.

As per official figures, the total number of Indians evacuated from Sudan is 670 so far. The first group of evacuees from Jeddah reached New Delhi on Wednesday night in a commercial flight. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tweeted that India welcomes his return. #OperationKaveri brings home 360 Indian nationals as the first flight reaches New Delhi.

The two sides have agreed to a ceasefire in Sudan, which has been going on for nearly 10 days. The 72-hour ceasefire began at midnight on 24 April. Meanwhile, India has launched 'Operation Kaveri' to evacuate its people safely. Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said that under Operation Kaveri, two C-130 flights have landed in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia carrying 121 and 135 passengers respectively. At the same time, Indian citizens have started returning to their country.
