Former presidential hopeful Andrew Yang supports Elon Musk to drive a third political party
Entrepreneur Andrew Yang becomes the first high-profile figure to support Elon Musk plan to found a new political party.
Andrew Yang, who ran as a Democratic presidential candidate in 2017, supports Elon Musk in his plan to drive a third political party.
From then on, the contrasting vision of both characters on politics led them to star in a war of statements on social networks, the most critical point of which was a threat from Trump to withdraw subsidies to Musk's companies and also send him back to South Africa.
In response, on Saturday afternoon, the visionary businessman announced the launch of the so-called America Party.
"When it comes to ruining our country with waste and corruption, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom," he wrote on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.
"I am saddened to see Elon Musk completely lose his way, essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK in the last five weeks. He even wants to start a third political party, despite the fact that they've never thrived in the United States: the system seems not designed for them," he posted on the Truth Social platform.
Contrary to expectations, the first endorsement of Musk's idea came from Taiwanese-born entrepreneur Andrew Yang, who co-founded the independent Forward Party.
I'm excited for anyone who wants to break out of the duopoly and I'm happy to help give someone a sense of what the path looks like, he said in a statement to the website Politico.
And to bolster support, The official Forward Party account also posted a message encouraging Elon Musk to pursue his political vision.
“We welcome the growing realization that the two-party system is broken and that the majority of Americans want more choice and accountability.
We encourage all new independent movements to prioritize healthy reforms and real solutions above all else,” he wrote.
