Through an illustration shared on the Truth Social platform, President Donald Trump endorsed his plan to annex Venezuela as the supposed “51st state” of the United States.
Surprisingly, the New York magnate released a map highlighting a part of South America with the American flag, implying that the current territory where the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is currently located has become part of the United States.
And so that there is no doubt, the illustration is accompanied by the legend “Estado 51”.
Since January 3, when US military forces entered Venezuelan territory to capture then-president Nicolás Maduro with the aim of transferring him to New York due to accusations of being the leader of the Cartel of the Suns, the nation practically lost control of its sovereignty, since Washington decided that Delcy Rodríguez would serve as the new head of the nation and also that control of its oil operations, as well as the money produced by them, would temporarily remain in the hands of the United States.
However, without assimilating what had happened to their nation, thousands of Venezuelans segregated around the world gathered to celebrate outside the Bolivarian embassies and consulates established abroad.
Since Trump's return to the White House after the 2024 elections, he announced that among the expansionist objectives of his policy was annexing three nations to US territory: Canada, Greenland and Venezuela.
In the case of the latter country, it took only 140 minutes to bring down its government at the beginning of the year and although it promised that it would soon allow elections to be held to define a new president, a few days ago it said that the necessary conditions do not yet exist to welcome democracy.
“They are not yet ready for the elections, but at some point they will be, and we are going to be on top of that,” Trump reiterated, highlighting what in his opinion has been good work by the woman who previously served as vice president of Nicolás Maduro.
Given the publication of the map where Venezuela is supposedly already considered part of the United States, no official in Caracas has yet raised their voice opposing it.
