Australia's experienced batsman David Warner can be the captain of Delhi Capitals in the upcoming season of IPL. He may get the command in the absence of Rishabh Pant. Pant was injured in a car accident late last year. He has injured his leg and will not be able to make a comeback for six-seven months. Warner has previously captained Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. He made the team champion in 2016.

Talking to an English website, a Delhi Capitals source said that Warner will be the captain of the team and Akshar Patel will be made the vice-captain. Talking about Warner, he joined the Delhi team in 2022. He was bought by the franchise in the mega auction for Rs 6.25 crore. Warner had a great performance in the season after that. He scored 432 runs in 12 matches at an average of 48. During this his strike rate was 150.52. Five half-centuries came out of Warner's bat.

Warner was earlier a part of Delhi franchise from 2009 to 2013 as well. Then the name of the team was Delhi Daredevils. On the other hand, talking about Akshar Patel, he was included in his team by Delhi in 2019. He is an important member of the franchise. He has performed impressively with the ball and the bat. The Delhi Capitals team will start their campaign in the upcoming season of IPL against Lucknow Supergiants in Lucknow on April 1. 

Australia's team is on a tour of India for a series of four Tests and three ODIs. Two test matches have been played. The Indian team is currently ahead 2-0 in the series. Warner will not play in the last two Tests. Warner suffered an elbow injury during the second Test played in Delhi. After that he could not get down to bat in the second innings of the match. Matt Renshaw became Warner's concussion replacement in the second Test. Warner batted in the first innings and Renshaw in the second innings. Warner could not perform anything special in the first two Tests. He scored only 26 runs in three innings. He will return from the ODI series to be held after the Test.
