Bozy Ennis predicts Lopez vs. Stevenson: 'He's going to destroy him'
Bozy Ennis says the fight won't be easy, but he believes Shakur Stevenson will win by judges' decision and not by knockout
Trainer Derek 'Bozy' Ennis predicted that Shakur Stevenson will destroy Teofimo Lopez and take his World Boxing Organization (WBO) title on January 31 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
In an interview with YSM Sports Media, Bozy Ennis says the fight won't be easy, but he believes Stevenson will win by judges' decision, not by knockout.
“It will be a technical fight at the beginning, but later on, Shakur is going to destroy him. He (Teofimo) is very athletic. I don't think it will be an easy fight. Teofimo punches and boxes. That will make it a little difficult. I've seen Shakur box at light heavyweight,” he said.
“I think (Stevenson) can do well at that weight (140). I'm considering a decision, not a stoppage.” But it depends on how Teo comes in. If Teo attacks, he'll take some punches. It could be the end. I think Shakur has a good punch. For me, speed is power. The punch you don't see knocks you out,” he added. Shakur Stevenson will move up to 140 pounds to try to win his fourth title in a different weight class, while Teofimo Lopez hopes to emerge victorious and then challenge Terence Crawford. According to experts, the fight could be low-scoring due to their fighting styles, but Stevenson is the favorite to win. In his last appearance in the ring, the undefeated Stevenson defended his WBC lightweight championship by defeating William 'Camaron' Zepeda by unanimous decision and will now seek to be crowned in a fourth division. Lopez, on the other hand, has a six-fight winning streak and also He retained his WBO super lightweight title by defeating Arnold Barboza Jr. by unanimous decision last May. Shakur Stevenson, 26, again defended his WBC undisputed lightweight championship in a great fight against Zepeda. The American has a record of 23 wins, 11 by knockout, and no losses. Meanwhile, Teofimo Lopez, 27,He defended his super lightweight title and will put it on the line again in January. The American of Honduran descent has a record of 22 wins (13 by knockout) and one loss in his professional career.
