Almost a year after having surrendered the undisputed championship of the super middleweight division, Mexican boxer Saúl Canelo Álvarez continues to evaluate the factors that conditioned his performance in the evening against Terence Crawford.
After initially pointing out physical and mobility aspects in the ring, the athlete from Jalisco shared a new perspective on the emotional state with which he faced one of the highest profile commitments in his professional career.

The former undisputed monarch's reflections address the importance of maintaining concentration on fundamental technical aspects during training camps.
In an interview with the North American television network CBS, the boxer reviewed the assimilation of the adverse result and the need to combine physical preparation with mental focus before taking to the ropes.
Technical self-criticism and mental preparation
During his conversation with the American media CBS, the Mexican athlete was emphatic in pointing out that disciplined execution in the gym does not always guarantee the expected result on the mat when there are distractions in the athlete's environment. For the Aztec fighter, the defeat against the American served as a reminder about the fragility of tactical plans in high performance.
“You can't change anything or control the results,” declared Canelo Álvarez when analyzing the development of the fight played in Las Vegas. "Even if you do everything right, things don't go the way you want... I learned that sometimes we forget the basics. I forgot the basics in that fight. It happens. You don't know it. You think you're doing everything right," acknowledged the former 168-pound champion.
In the same dialogue with the television source, the fighter from Guadalajara delved into the main cause that, in his opinion, reduced his ability to respond during the twelve regulatory rounds of the fight. "Mentally I was not prepared. I did everything correctly in the gym and in the training camp. If I want to continue fighting, I need to be there mentally and physically. Because I always train at 100% and I am very disciplined," Canelo Álvarez detailed.
