The present of Hirving “Chucky” Lozano is going through one of the most complicated moments of his career. The lack of activity with San Diego FC caused a collapse in his market value, which went from $51.8 million dollars in 2019 to just $4 million, according to the most recent update from Transfermarkt.
The drop represents a decrease of close to 92% compared to the highest point of its price and reflects the difficult outlook that the Mexican attacker faces after being left out of the MLS club's sporting plans.
From franchise figure to being left out of the San Diego FC project
When San Diego FC announced the signing of Hirving Lozano as the first big star in its history, the Mexican still had a market value close to $28.8 million.
His arrival was called to lead the sporting project of the new Major League Soccer team, but the situation changed radically in a short time.
Since joining the club he has lost $24.8 million in price, while, compared to the best moment of his career, the difference amounts to $47.8 million.
The conflict that changed the course of “Chucky” Lozano
The turning point came after the 2025 season. Although Lozano recorded 11 goals and 9 assists in 34 official games, an incident during the playoffs ended up breaking the relationship with the coaching staff headed by Mikey Varas.
After being substituted, the attacker got into an altercation with the coach. Despite later apologizing, the board, led by Tyler Heaps, made the decision to exclude him from the sports project.
Since then, the Mexican has not played a single official match.
The inactivity also cost him a place with the Mexican team
The absence of competitive minutes not only impacted his international price. It also ended up affecting his options with the Mexican team.
After several months without activity, Hirving Lozano was no longer part of the squad and was finally not considered to play in the 2026 World Cup, after having been one of the most important players on the national team in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022.
LA Galaxy appears as a possible exit for Lozano
When it seemed that the Mexican's future was completely stagnant, an alternative arose to relaunch his career.
According to The Athletic and other media, LA Galaxy is studying the possibility of negotiating the incorporation of Hirving Lozano, convinced that he can still recover the level he showed during his time in Europe.
The Los Angeles team considers that a change of environment could restore prominence to a footballer who was champion of the Eredivisie with PSV Eindhoven and of Serie A with Napoli.
The great challenge of “Chucky”: recovering its level and market value
Throughout his career, Hirving Lozano was one of the most highly valued Mexican soccer players in the international market. His explosion with PSV Eindhoven and his consolidation in Napoli led him to reach a price of $51.8 million dollars, a figure reserved for few Mexican players.
Today, with an estimated value of $4 million dollars, the winger faces a completely different scenario. If his arrival at the LA Galaxy is finalized, he will not only have the opportunity to compete regularly again, but also to begin the path to regain the prominence that once made him one of the main figures in Mexican soccer.
