The Mexican team started its participation in this tournament on the right foot with a victory against Venezuela on the first day. The only goal of the game was scored by Joaquín Moxica.
On the next day they tied 1-1 against the Dominican Republic. In the last match of the group stage they beat Guatemala 4-1. Already in the semifinals, El Tri had no problems beating Panama.
The final will be played this Friday, August 7 at the Cibao Futbol Club Stadium. The rival will be Venezuela, a team that was able to beat Colombia in the semifinals with a score of 0-1.

This will be Mexico's 14th final in the Central American and Caribbean Games. The balance is quite even: 6 finals lost and 7 finals won. The Mexican team has had positive and negative streaks for the gold medal.
The Mexican team has won the last two finals they have played. The first of them was in 2014 at the Veracruz games (Mexico). In this final they defeated Venezuela 1-3. In the 2023 edition, Mexico won the gold medal again after beating Costa Rica 2-1. This last gold medal corresponds to the San Salvador Games (El Salvador).
But before these victories, El Tri had three consecutive defeats in finals. This bad streak began at the 1993 Ponce Games (Puerto Rico). El Tri fell 1-2 against Colombia. In Maracaibo 1998 (Venezuela), they lost to the locals 3-1. In the final of San Salvador 2002 (El Salvador), the Aztecs lost again against the locals on penalties 4-3.
