The Argentine strategist considers that González's scoring pace was average for the great attackers in European football. Milito explained that the “Ant” could have fought for the scoring title in the European tournaments. The records in Mexico were enough for that.
"We have a very good forward. La Hormiga scored 24 goals between the two tournaments in just 34 games, a very high number. If we make the comparison, in Europe the leagues usually have 38 games and many of the top scorers end up with similar records," the coach began.
Gabriel Milito left out players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in his analysis. The South American coach does not lose confidence in his striker and hopes that he can achieve better performances this season.
"With exceptions like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi in their best years, when they reached 40 or 50 goals, most of the scorers in the big leagues, such as the Spanish, the Italian or the Premier League, end up with figures similar to those of 'La Hormiga'. Last year their goals were very important and I am convinced that this year they will arrive again," he added.
So far Armando González has participated in four official matches of the season. The “Ant” has not been able to score his first goal with the Sacred Flock. In fact, winger Roberto Alvarado has come to the club's rescue. “El Piojo” has scored three goals this season, that is, all of Chivas' goals.
