Concern at PSG due to Dembélé's injury two weeks before the Champions League final
French media speculate about a muscle strain, with the Champions League final and the World Cup on the horizon
Less than two weeks before playing the UEFA Champions League final, Paris Saint-Germain set off alarms after the early departure of Ousmane Dembélé during the match on the last day of Ligue 1 against Paris FC. The French forward left the field of play in the 27th minute after experiencing physical discomfort in his left leg.
The change came when PSG was still leading 1-0 thanks to a goal from Bradley Barcola. In place of Dembélé, the Portuguese Gonçalo Ramos entered. Although the attacker left on foot and without apparent signs of seriousness, media such as L'Equipe indicated that he had suffered a muscle strain, pending official confirmation from the club.
The situation is especially worrying because the team led by Luis Enrique has the most important duel of the season on the horizon: the UEFA Champions League final, scheduled for May 30 in Budapest, where they will face Arsenal.
An unexpected blow before the most important match
The attacker's possible injury comes at a sensitive time for the French champion. Dembélé, winner of the last Ballon d'Or, has been one of the key pieces of the Parisian scheme during the campaign and his physical condition is closely monitored by both the club and the French team, which is also preparing its participation in the 2026 World Cup.
After the match, Luis Enrique avoided giving details about the footballer's condition. "Nothing to say. Let's wait until tomorrow," declared the coach, without offering more information about the medical evaluation that will be performed on the player.
The uncertainty grew even more because the match had no impact on the table for PSG, which had already secured the Ligue 1 title in advance. Even so, the team let the advantage slip and ended up losing 2-1, after a double from the entered Alimani Gory, including the decisive goal in stoppage time.
Defeat and discomfort at the close of Ligue 1
Beyond the injury, the closing of the championship left a bitter taste for the Parisian club. The defeat against Paris FC provoked a critical reaction from Luis Enrique, who expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's performance.
"I'm very disappointed. I'm going to talk to the players," said the coach after the match, despite the fact that the local title was already assured.
The focus now moves to Dembélé's status. The former FC Barcelona player must undergo studies to determine the exact extent of the discomfort. With the European final so close, any absence could represent a serious problem for PSG in their attempt to win their first Champions League.
