Thalía asked to pray for Venezuela after the recent earthquakes
The Mexican singer made resources available on her social networks to support humanitarian assistance after the double earthquake that hit the country
International solidarity continues to add voices after the earthquakes that shook Venezuela on June 24. On this occasion, the Mexican singer and actress Thalía turned to her social networks to send a message of encouragement and activate a humanitarian support plan focused on the thousands of families affected by the catastrophe.
Through a video on her Instagram account, the “Amor a la Mexicana” singer expressed her concern about the impact of the double earthquake, which reached magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale.
Shocked by the consequences of the disaster, the artist not only called on her millions of followers to join in a prayer chain for the well-being of the Venezuelan people, but also transformed her profile into an active channel for assistance.
"My heart goes out to Venezuela and to all the families affected by this tragedy. I have gathered on this page verified resources to help find missing people, consult official information and support organizations that are providing humanitarian aid," said Thalía.
The seriousness of the situation in the country is reflected in the latest official balance sheets. The double earthquake, whose aftershocks occurred with a difference of just 39 seconds, caused severe structural collapses, mainly in Caracas and La Guaira.
To date, authorities report 1,943 deaths, 10,571 injuries and 15,866 victims. In the infrastructure sector, 774 buildings were affected, among which 189 suffered a total collapse and 585 presented serious damage or partial collapses.
With this gesture, the Mexican star joins her voice to an extensive list of music and entertainment celebrities—such as Shakira, Alejandro Sanz, Ricky Martin and Carlos Vives—who have decided to use their global reach to coordinate efforts to benefit the victims and ensure that the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela receives the urgent attention that is required at this time.
