Rafael 'Divino' Espinoza assured that he doesn't feel pressure to fight in front of his people in Mexico and highlighted that this rather motivates him to come out victorious against Arnold Khegai this Saturday, November 15th at the Arena Potosi in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
In an interview with La Opinion, Divino Espinoza stated that the support of the Mexican public and his loved ones encourages him to give his best in the ring to successfully defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight title once again.
“Well, not so much pressure, but I take it as motivation. (…) It's a great source of pride because they're considering me one of the leading figures among current Mexican boxers, and that's something to be proud of. It's very motivating because many people in Mexico who can't come to see me in the United States or anywhere else in the country can see me here—my family, my people—so it's a lot of motivation,” he said.
“Yes, (the support of the public) encourages you to keep going, right? To keep going and keep going with even more enthusiasm. When you hear the shouts, when you hear the people, your family, your people, it's like you give that extra effort and the best of you comes out. So, in that aspect, in that “The vibe and energy are definitely better, and it really changes the fight's atmosphere,” he stated. The Mexican champion emphasized that despite being excited to fight in his homeland, whenever he steps into the ring he forgets where he is and focuses on his main objective, which is to emerge victorious. He also noted that this fight card will be similar to those held in Las Vegas, and he is happy to be able to offer this type of spectacle to Mexicans. “Bringing this here to Mexico really shows that we are doing something right in Mexico and that the best boxing fans in the world They are Mexican. So that gives me a lot of enthusiasm, and also knowing and telling people that we are the best fans," he concluded. This will be Divino Espinoza's fourth defense of the WBO featherweight title since taking it from Robeisy Ramirez. In his last appearance in the ring, the Mexican fighter knocked out Edward Vazquez in the seventh round last May. Khegai, meanwhile, recovered from his defeat at the hands of Joet Gonzalez in March and returned with a victory over Liborio Solis in early September. The fight with the Mexican is his third in 2025 and his first for a world title.
