The mandatory challenger's withdrawal comes despite the fact that the auction held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, represented the highest guaranteed purse in Keyshawn Davis' professional history.
The corporation directed by Bob Arum presented a financial position of 8.55 million dollars to win the event, surpassing the offer of 2.35 million made by the firm Takeover Promotions. The formal confirmation of the disassociation of the lawsuit was issued by the president of the World Boxing Organization, Gustavo Olivieri, who ratified through an institutional statement that the candidate notified his position of not accepting the conditions established for the defense of the title. The official explained to the information portal Boxing Scene that the entity will proceed to review the order of the international classifications: "The entity has been officially notified that the fighter will not continue in the mandatory process, so the organization will apply the corresponding regulations to reorder the official 147-pound ranking."
