Leo Messi's Inter Miami will play the first round of the playoffs against Nashville, South Korean Heung Min Son's LAFC will challenge Spanish coach Nico Estevez's Austin, and San Diego FC, led by Mexican Hirving Lozano, the leader of the West, will face one between Portland Timbers and Real Salt Lake, after 'Decision Day' that ended the regular season of the American league.
The play-in will be played in a single match this Wednesday and the playoffs will begin on Friday with a best-of-three series.
The MLS regular season concluded with Leo Messi winning the Golden Boot for the league's top scorer, with 29 goals in 28 games played.
In the West, San Diego, a debut franchise in the MLS, made history by finishing first in their conference after crushing the Portland Timbers 4-0 at home and after Vancouver's defeat against FC Dallas.
The Californians will find out their opponent this Wednesday, when the Timbers will play the 'play-in' against Real Salt Lake, in a match between the round of 16 and ninth, respectively.
Thomas Muller's Vancouver, second, will face Dallas, who finished in seventh place.
LAFC, with the ninth goal of Heung Min Son in MLS, finished in third place, so they will face Nico Estevez's Austin in the first round.
Finally, Minnesota FC will play the Seattle Sounders in the first round, a duel between the fourth and fifth placed teams, respectively.
In the East, Inter Miami will face Nashville with the first game of the series scheduled for this Friday at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
