Maravilla Martinez reconoce valentia de Jake Paul tras pelear con Joshua
Maravilla Martinez comento que Jake Paul pudo haber modificado algunas reglas a su favor, pero decidio pelear de forma justa con Joshua
Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez acknowledged Jake Paul's courage in accepting the fight with Anthony Joshua, who ended up knocking him out in the sixth round and fracturing his jaw in two places.
In a post on his social media, Maravilla Martinez commented that Paul could have changed some rules in his favor, but decided to fight Joshua fairly.
“I thought what Jake Paul did was great, fantastic… I mean, it was an absurd attempt to take his own life. You own the ball, the field, the stadium, the jerseys, and you can change some rules or modify some rules in your favor. On his part, it was brave of him because he didn't change any rules; that is, he didn't lose to a novice, to a mere, simple boxer. He didn't fight and lose to a simple boxer, let's make that clear, let's not be unfair,” he said.
“I’m fighting a real boxer, I’m fighting someone who’s practically a world champion. I mean, (Joshua) was knocked out by Usyk, and in the last fight by Daniel Dubois. He fought and lost to… I’m not saying he was top-tier, but he’s definitely one of the best, the worst of the bunch. But still one of the best. And if Joshua fights another heavyweight, even if they weigh the same, he’ll blow him away. Because Joshua is Joshua. He’s not just anyone. He’s an Olympic gold medalist. “Do you understand?” he added.
In his fight against Anthony Joshua, Jake Paul spent most of his time running around the ring to avoid his opponent's powerful punches, resulting in a slow start to the rounds. Midway through the fight, the YouTuber-turned-boxer showed signs of fatigue, and that proved to be his downfall.
The Briton landed a punch on the American, knocking him down four times (twice in the fifth and twice more in the sixth). It was precisely in that round that Joshua finished Paul with a powerful right hand that fractured his jaw in two places.
Following the victory, Anthony Joshua declared that he wants to face Tyson Fury next, while Paul assured that he will continue fighting and again called for Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
Jake Paul, 27, suffered his second career defeat, his first by knockout. The American YouTuber has a record of 12 wins (six by knockout) and two losses.
Anthony Joshua, 36, bounced back from his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last September by defeating Paul. The Briton boasts a record of 29 wins, 25 by knockout, and four losses.
