This is the case of Mexican compatriots, who follow the price of the dollar this Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Here we tell you the exchange rate with the peso and how it affected the news of the possible agreement between the United States and Iran.
The average price of the dollar in Mexico today is $17.22 pesos per unit. The price remains close to the levels observed during the previous day, after the Mexican peso showed stability against the US currency at the close of Monday.
According to information from the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), the national currency began the day with a price of $17.22 pesos per dollar. During the previous session it registered practically no changes, despite the fact that investors closely followed the developments related to a possible agreement between the United States and Iran.
Banxico also reported that the FIX exchange rate published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) for this Tuesday was established at $17.2008 pesos per dollar. For its part, the exchange rate applicable for the payment of obligations denominated in US dollars was set at $17.2067 pesos per unit.
The FIX functions as an official reference for various financial and commercial operations in Mexico. Its calculation is made based on the average of the prices observed in the wholesale exchange market during banking business days.
On the other hand, the dollar remains near its lowest levels of the last 10 days. The markets reacted favorably to expectations of an eventual reduction in tensions in the Middle East, while in Asia attention focused on the Bank of Japan's decision to raise interest rates to contain the inflationary risks associated with the regional conflict.
According to data from Dow Jones, at the opening of this Tuesday the US dollar was quoted at $17.20 Mexican pesos. This represents a decrease of 0.14% compared to the previous close of $17.23 pesos per currency.
In a broader perspective, the dollar accumulates a weekly drop of 1.22%. Likewise, compared to the same period last year, it registers a decrease of 8.60%, which confirms the strength that the Mexican peso has shown against the US currency in recent months.
Exchange rate volatility also remains at relatively low levels. It currently stands at 5.58%, below the reference indicator of 7.56%. This behavior is usually interpreted as a sign of stability in the exchange market and less pressure for sudden movements in the short term.
Dollar exchange rate today in Mexican banks
Regarding the quotes presented by the main financial institutions in Mexico, the prices for this Tuesday, June 16, are as follows:
In today's comparison, Banamex and Banorte present the lowest sales price among the main banks consulted, both with $17.60 pesos per dollar. On the other hand, Scotiabank offers the best purchase price by paying up to $16.70 pesos for each US currency.
In banking institutions in Mexico and the northern border, the average sale is $17.50 pesos, while the average purchase is around $16.36 pesos per unit. Likewise, in the exchange houses on the Tamaulipas border, the dollar is sold for around $17.50 pesos and is purchased for approximately $16.50 pesos.
For those who cross into the United States through Baja California, the dollar in Tijuana is sold this Tuesday at approximately $17.20 pesos per unit.
In international money transfer companies, Western Union quotes the dollar at $16.83 Mexican pesos. For its part, MoneyGram sets the exchange rate at $17.86 pesos per unit.
