Apple seems to be ready to enter the world of foldables, and although the wait has been long, everything indicates that the company is cooking up something different. The latest leaks reveal that the first iPhone Fold will have a 7.8-inch internal screen and a 5.5-inch external screen, both with a design that is quite far from what we've seen in devices like the Galaxy Z Fold.

Instead of betting on size and spectacularity, Apple would be choosing a more minimalist and practical approach, keeping the dimensions contained and prioritizing comfort in daily use. Although those 7.8 internal inches would make it the iPhone with the largest screen ever released, it still falls below the 8 inches of Samsung's folding model. And while the 5.5-inch external display may sound small by today's standards, Apple could be designing a wider form factor that allows for comfortable use without opening the device.

Apple sets itself apart: smaller size, more ergonomics

The design of the iPhone Fold will not only be more compact, it would also have a more square proportion, similar to that of the iPad mini, with a 4:3 aspect ratio on its main screen. This means that, although the diagonal size is smaller than other foldables, the usable area could be very competitive, especially for browsing, reading, or viewing content in tablet mode.

As for the external screen, the 5.5-inch one would be especially wide, indicating that Apple wants to avoid the "remote control effect" that many criticize in the current Folds. Everything indicates that it will be more friendly to write, interact with apps, and use the device without having to constantly open it.

And as always, Apple is not content with copying what already exists. It is said that this foldable model will have an internal screen without visible wrinkles, which would be a big step forward compared to the noticeable wrinkles of many foldables on the market. To achieve this, they would be working with special materials and an exclusive hinge system that reduces stress on the panel.

Without Face ID and with Touch ID on the side?

One of the most surprising decisions in this design would be the elimination of Face ID, the facial recognition technology that has been Apple's emblem since the iPhone X. Instead, the iPhone Fold would integrate a side fingerprint sensor (Touch ID). This not only simplifies the design, but also allows for a cleaner internal screen, without the need for a notch or visible perforations for the front camera.

Speaking of cameras, it is also rumored that Apple is exploring the idea of ??hiding the front camera under the screen, something that has not yet become widespread due to image quality problems, but that Apple could improve with its own approach. All of this is for a more immersive experience without visual interruptions.

As for materials, the foldable device would use a premium alloy that would make it strong yet light. The idea is that, although it is a large device when opened, it feels compact, robust, and elegant when closed. The hinge would be almost invisible and would allow the phone to remain completely flat when unfolded.

Although there is still no official release date, several reports indicate that mass production could start in 2026, which gives time to perfect all the details and ensure that the product lives up to Apple's standards.
