Revocation of American citizenship would be of maximum priority for the Trump administration
The Trump administration issues a memorandum prioritizing actions to revoke the U.S. citizenship of children of immigrants
The revocation of U.S. citizenship for naturalized citizens could be of maximum priority for the U.S. Department of Justice and its Civil Division as part of the policies promoted by Trump.
According to a memorandum from U.S. authorities, in possession of the American agency The Associated Press, orders Department of Justice lawyers to "insist as much as possible in denaturalization proceedings in all cases permitted by law and supported by evidence.”
Among the objectives of the authority, which is supported by Section 1451 of the U.S. Code, which allows the government to revoke the citizenship of naturalized immigrants obtained through fraud or misrepresentation, would be the power to proceed against people accused of terrorism, financial fraud or crimes related to the naturalization process.
The memorandum also establishes that federal attorneys will be able to file lawsuits against governments with sanctuary city policies that interfere with procedures of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE), in addition to identifying ten priority categories against people convicted of financial fraud or sexual crimes, among others.
