In order to face an investigation by the Department of Justice authorized to check his finances and those of his wife, Gavin Newsom, governor of California, made public his tax returns for recent years.

The purpose of the Democrat, whom several analysts place among the candidates for his party's presidential candidacy in 2028, is to clarify that there is nothing strange about his income.

Therefore, in their statements related to their income from 2022 to 2024, the couple reveals having earned between $1.7 million dollars and no more than $2,000,000 dollars annually.

Since Newsom became president of the Golden State, he transferred control of his businesses to his sister who, along with one of his cousins, are in charge of managing them, while he receives $200,000 in annual salary as governor.

In this way, the income generated by the wineries and restaurants he owns, which make up the so-called PlumpJack Group, is directed to a blind trust, with the aim of avoiding the emergence of a conflict of interest due to the position he holds.

Under that approach, Newsom's office published more than 700 pages of tax returns from the last four years, material available for consultation by the press.

According to the balance sheets presented, it is confirmed that the 58-year-old politician's income has remained relatively constant.

Regarding his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, a film director, her statements indicate that she records recurring losses through Girls Club Entertainment, the production company she founded.

In general terms, it is mentioned that, for the care of three of their four children, the Newsoms paid between approximately $14,000 and $44,000 annually.

Other expenses corresponded to monetary donations to charities, which were between $40,000 and $65,000 dollars.
