Three judges ruled this Wednesday that California can use the new electoral district map for the US House of Representatives that was approved with Proposition 50 in the special elections of November 4, 2025.

With the ruling by the panel of judges, California can use the new congressional district redistricting, designed to increase the number of Democratic representatives, in the 2026 midterm elections.

By a vote of two to one, federal judges in Los Angeles rejected requests from California Republicans and the US Department of Justice to prevent California from using the new maps in future elections.
