Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang agreed to plead guilty Monday to a federal charge for acting as an illegal agent and promoting propaganda from China, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) reported.
In a statement, the DOJ said that Wang was charged in a federal court with acting as an illegal agent for China.
Wang, 58 years old and mayor of Arcadia, city in Los Angeles county, worked with her then fiancée to run a site of Internet targeted to Americans of Chinese origin that disseminated propaganda of the government of China, or the People's Republic of China (PRC).
