Plane crashes at high speed in Texas: no survivors
A Cessna plane crashed during night in Wimberley, Texas, causing the death of its five occupants. Authorities are investigating the causes of the crash
Five people died after an aircraft accident occurred on the weekend in the state of Texas, according to local authorities.
The accident took place in the 200 block of Round Rock Road, in the town of Wimberley, where emergency crews responded after receiving the impact report, according to FOX 7 Austin.
Identified aircraft and first hypotheses
According to reports, the plane involved was identified as a Cessna 421C carrying five occupants. All were declared dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the aircraft was moving at high speed before crashing. So far, no evidence has been found suggesting a airborne collision.
The authorities reported that a second aircraft that was flying over the area managed to land without inconveniences at the New Braunfels airport, which rules out, for now, a multiple air event.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) leads the accident investigation, in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Both agencies work to determine the causes of the accident and evaluate possible technical or human factors.
So far, authorities have not released the names of the victims, as the notification processes to their next of kin continue.
