Scott Wiener, state senator for District 11 of the California legislature and who aspires to succeed his party partner Nancy Pelosi, announced that he was attacked during a gay event.

Through an extensive message shared on the social platform

“While walking through Dolores Park to participate in a trans-led Pride Shabbat service in connection with the trans march, a group of people began yelling at me, ran toward me, surrounded me, and began harassing me, both verbally and physically, including physical contact,” he wrote.

According to Wiener, the reason behind the incident in which he was involved could be related to the fact that his political campaign website mentions his inclination towards the idea of ​​​​creating a Palestinian state and also describes the actions of the Israeli government in Gaza as genocide.

Both ideas seem to have not been liked by a sector of civilians who sympathize with the plans of the Jewish nation and, consequently, intended to attack the senator.

In a video circulating on the Internet, Weiner is shown walking through a park surrounded by a group of people who, in addition to yelling profanities at him, go out of their way to make obscene gestures at him while accusing him of “betraying gays.”

"They were so physically and verbally aggressive that it was impossible for me to stay in the park safely. Therefore, I left the park and, for the first time, I did not participate in the trans march," said the politician with Jewish roots.

It should be noted that Weiner is immersed in a competition with Connie Chan, San Francisco supervisor, to define who can replace the experienced and powerful Nancy Pelosi.
