Trump enjoys “excellent health,” says the White House after a medical examination
Medical report highlights normal cardiac and cognitive functions weeks before Trump turns 80
A medical report released by the White House ensures that the cardiovascular health of US President Donald Trump is equivalent to that of a person 14 years younger, a fact included in a medical evaluation that describes the 79-year-old president in an “excellent” and cognitively complete state of health.
According to the report signed by the White House doctor, Sean Barbabella, Trump has a “heart age” of 65 years, despite the fact that he will turn 80 on June 14.
The results of the evaluation, performed on May 26 at Walter Reed Military Medical Center, also highlight normal cardiac function, with no evidence of heart failure or other significant cardiovascular conditions.
The report also addresses visible bruises on the president's hands, which have generated public speculation in recent months, and the doctor attributed the marks to a combination of frequent handshakes and daily use of aspirin as part of a cardiovascular preventive regimen, ruling out that they are a sign of a more serious medical problem.
The main medical abnormality mentioned by the presidential doctor is a slight swelling in the legs caused by chronic venous insufficiency, a condition considered common and benign in people over 70 years of age.
In addition, the personal doctor assures that Trump obtained a perfect score of 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) cognitive test, while laboratory tests and an echocardiogram showed results within normal parameters, according to the evaluation released by the White House.
The report also highlights the president's prolonged abstinence from alcohol and tobacco, habits that Barbabella pointed out among the factors that favor his current state of health.
The Republican, close to turning 80, weighs about 224 pounds (101.6 kilos) and is 6 feet 3 inches (1.90 meters), according to the details of the test.
