The United States Central Command (Centcom) completed a new wave of attacks against Iran, hitting dozens of military targets, in response to an attempted missile launch against US troops deployed in the Middle East.

The bombings hit targets of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard of Iran (IRGC), including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, surveillance and coastal defense posts, as well as naval capabilities, the armed forces detailed in their official X account.

According to Centcom, the attacks were aimed at reducing threats from Iran and its allied groups against US forces, commercial shipping and neighboring Gulf countries.

The Command did not immediately report any specific victims or damage caused by the bombings.

The offensive came a day after IRGC forces launched several ballistic missiles at US positions in the Middle East, although all were intercepted, according to the US military command. More than 50,000 US troops remain deployed in the region, according to Centcom.

Hours before the attack, US President Donald Trump had announced that they would respond strongly to Iran's surprise attacks in Jordan on Tuesday night.

The attacks between Washington and Tehran were reactivated this week, despite the fact that Trump had announced that he would suspend the fire due to new rapprochements with the Islamic Republic in search of reaching a new peace agreement, while the conflict approaches five months.
