According to the newspaper Huarpe, Saint Cajetan was born in 1480 in Vicenza, Italy, into a noble family. During his youth he studied Law at the University of Padua and worked in fields related to administration and politics.
However, he decided to change the direction of his life to dedicate himself to religious service and helping the most vulnerable people.
After being ordained a priest, he worked especially with the sick and people in poverty. His commitment to those who suffered led him to promote various social assistance initiatives and, in 1524, together with other religious, he founded the Order of Theatine Clerics Regular.
This congregation sought to recover an austere spiritual life committed to the community, promoting prayer, helping others and accompaniment to those who were going through difficulties.
In addition, San Cayetano promoted institutions designed to provide economic support to people with few resources. These initiatives sought to offer alternatives to the abusive loans of the time and help families who needed to overcome moments of crisis.
