A Southern California woman was sentenced to 121 months in prison for stealing more than $2.25 million from elderly people.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Julie Anne Darrah, 52, used her position as an investment advisor to involve her firm's elderly clients, including some people receiving end-of-life care.
According to prosecutors, Darrah stole the funds after gaining control of his clients’ assets and, without their knowledge, liquidated their securities holdings to transfer the proceeds into accounts under his control.
