Marcel Ruiz, unhappy with the way the issue of his injury was handled in the Tricolor
Marcel Ruiz said he felt calm about the effort he put into reaching the World Cup and the support that Toluca and “Turco” Mohamed have given him.
Marcel Ruiz is very upset by the way the matter of his injury has been handled in the Mexico team and for that reason he stated that he will wait for the World Cup list to be announced to decide whether to reveal the details of the talk he had with the national coach Javier Aguirre.
"I don't have much to say about what I spoke with Javier. I don't want to reveal the content of that talk. I think it should remain private. We will see when the list is announced," Ruiz declared in the conference prior to the Concachampions final.
Ruiz acknowledged that the desire to represent Mexico in a World Cup never left his mind, but he also established that he was always sure of the decisions he made about his physical condition, questioning all the speculations that have been circulated regarding the injury he suffered in his left knee.
"The desire to play in a World Cup with the national team will always be there. However, I have had difficult months with the cruciate ligament issue and now I am focused here. Many people have spoken without knowing. I have been calm because my close circle and the club know the truth. They give their opinion without seeing the medical studies. This match is very important for me, especially because of my personal situation."
The fine midfielder explained that the 40 days he has gone through were very complicated, but that in the end his willpower and his mentality allowed him to accept that things happen for a reason and that it will be a very hard blow not to attend the World Cup, but neither will the world end if he is not called up.
"In a situation like this, you imagine the worst. But I have handled it well and I am grateful to the club. Everything I have done since my injury was with the hope of being on the final list. Since I was not initially called up, I had the option to have surgery, but I decided not to do it so I could play in the league, this final and not disappoint the club that has given me everything. That was my decision," said Ruiz.
In addition, he highlighted the positive influence of his coach, Antonio 'Turco' Mohamed, in the group, in the decisions of many players and he was no exception, considering that the influence of the Argentine strategist was key to overcoming difficult moments.
"Having Turco is an advantage. We have achieved great harmony and preparation for these moments. We have not lost any finals and I hope that tomorrow will not be the exception. It helps us all grow," he concluded.
